(For the boxing fans only) Amir is King still!..
Fucking hell, what a fight..

Toughest of his career, a bloody ravaging battle. A knock down each, and I reckon Amir has a broken rib. But he still won and what a quick paced fight!..

Gotta give credit to Gomez tough.. typical dogged stubborn Irish fighter if ever there was one!

I can see his tactics... keep pushing forward and he would win.. but he didn't! Yet another fighter to underestimate the power of Khan!

By the way just thought I'd point out - He's not a real boxer, and his name isn't Rocky. Sorry to make your little boys' worlds crumble...
This

Ha, fool.

Next youll be telling me Mr T isnt real, Hasselhoff isnt a God, Stephen Seagal isnt 'the man' and even John McClane isnt the best cop america has ever had.

How I pity you ...

However, having said that....

If a large army of pigmies were to suddenly march into my living room, having wandered the seven seas and trecherous mountainous terrain looking for me, sweating and out of breath, him strapped to a serving tray with all but a Burger King truffle burger protecting his modesty...

well, it would be rude not really wouldn't it?....

I didnt mention Arnie as he has actually elevated from the status of mere mortal to a much higher state of consciousness, transcending all that is. I felt it unfair to tarnish his name amongst such a crowd.

people have the same thoughts and predudice of other boxers for example even Ali

no - ali's prjudice were almost solely because he was a draft dodger.

boxing used to be one of the more honest sports in terms of appraising a boxers ability and worth. compliments didnt used to flow that freely. i'd say its only been in the last 10 years or so, that a lot of mediocre boxers get talked up beyond their own ability - fraudly harrison being a prime example

I am very much a girl, but there is a large part of me that has a male psycology. Does this mean men want to fuck other men they admire?

I would happily allow Arnie to mount me.

I'm not sure how much more 'real' he has to get before he gets considered real.

Funny how pre-fight he said of Gomez "To be honest I think I'm above this domestic level now." - link

However, after being knocked down by Gomez (who has lost his last three previous fights) Khan had changed his tune - "I've moved up a level now, fighting world class fighters like Gomez" - link

The truth is Khan is a good boxer, but he's nowhere near world class yet. Even his promoter Frank Warren admits "He has still has a way to go."

I think boxing fans sometimes have this unwavering belief in their heroes. Check out Hatton. I know lots of people who thought he just couldn't lose when on paper it was pretty obvious he was going to get a whooping. When Khan get's his arse kicked properly they'll be a lot of people standing in disbelief thinking "how could this happen?!" when they should have seen it a long way off. No matter how much belief you have in your hero and no matter how much belief your hero has in himself there's always somebody out there that can kick his ass.

Wooo wooo there Tom! You cannot compare the 2.

Sorry, didn't come across as I intended. I wasn't comparing them, I was saying even Hatton got beaten, so don't think that some random guy you believe in is suddenly invincible.

Now Hatton ... that is a good boxer.

I just think he had an larger than normal following because most of the 'English' street lads in the country can relate to him on a social level. Of course he is a phenomenal fighter, but the fact he is the sort of bloke you meet in the pub, probably helped his reputation with other like-minded people enormously.

I just think I like Khan because he won't let what others make of him put him down. He started as the under-dog, and in a way, still is, and for me always comes out of it glowing but still doesn't allow himself to have a big head. And he's determined. You can't fault him on that. Bet he's constantly working on ways to improve his performance and keeping focused. Even if one day the inevitable did happen (but I still have faith it won't) I would still then have faith that he'd come past it and go on to be massive. Of course at some point you lose, that's life. But it's how you come past it that counts. He's never going to be a crap fighter, but he can always get better!

Look at Pompey. If a couple of years ago you'd have said they'd win the FA cup, I'd probably have laughed with the rest of ya. But we won it! Ha ha.. Sometimes you just can't keep a good thing down...
