(For the boxing fans only) Amir is King still!..
Fucking hell, what a fight..

Toughest of his career, a bloody ravaging battle. A knock down each, and I reckon Amir has a broken rib. But he still won and what a quick paced fight!..

Gotta give credit to Gomez tough.. typical dogged stubborn Irish fighter if ever there was one!

I can see his tactics... keep pushing forward and he would win.. but he didn't! Yet another fighter to underestimate the power of Khan!

I have to admit i forgot it was on and switched channels just as Khan was on the floor in the second round !!!

Has to be one of the best if not the best fight ive seen with khan

Well quick paced, wasn't it! That's what other boxers miss... just not as exciting. I do think they stopped the fight too early though, but even Khan looked gutted about that. He's a fair fighter.

Problem is i think if they hadnt khan would have kept throwing the punches and gomez just couldnt defend , it could have turned nasty.

Which reminds me, I saw somewhere there should be a low budget british film out soon about Gomez starring the lovely Jody Latham. I've seen clips of it and it looked good, but cant find any info anywhere. Anyone have anything on this?

shame Khan doesn't have the power to match his speed......

His hand speed and accuracy is second to none at any level (yes as good if not better than as floyd mayweather) , but when you land that often and you don't stop people you're always in danger of getting knock out yourself!!!

He needs to increase the power or he will not win a world title, i reckon Jono Thaxton could beat him but he keeps ducking that fight.... hhmm wonder why!!!!

ok so i may be biased as i come from Norwich but Jono is the british Lightwieght Champion and holds the lonsdale belt, why does Amir not want it hey...... cos Frank Warren knows Jono could do him!

Jono wants this match Frank Warren doesn't.......

Believe me the power is there. P = MA. He needs to learn to defend more like. It is a bit worrying he doesn't seem to have a chin. Got knocked about two fights (?) ago and got knocked by an average fighter. He can't keep taking those big shots or it will catch up with him later in his career. Think he turned pro too early. Hope he really slow down his career and fight some more average fighters before he comes up against quality. Otherwise, he is going to get found out.

if he had real power, Gomez would not have made it out of the first round!
How quick he throws his punches he loses force, he's reloading before the full force has been exerted! if you hit anyone as accrurately as he does two or three times with power, i'm sorry but they'd go down no matter how good their chin was!

He will get more power as he grows older. His speed is phenomenal and when he bulks up it will do some real damage. But for someone who is suppose to be gunning for the world title, his defence leaves a lot to be desire.

P = MA is exactly khan's problem. Too much A at the cost of M. My two cents :)

Almost as soon as the fight had finished Warren was in the ring giving him a lecture. It probably went something along the lines of "think about it or you're going to lose both of us millions."
I love wathing him, but he's not ready for a title shot yet.

I disagree with you all. I have watched him since he won the silver in the Olympics, and he is a phenomenal fighter. Only just 21 and from what I've seen his punches are pretty damn powerful. He's only gone the full 12 rounds once (or is it twice now?) as the fight has been called off by the ref due to it being one sided to Amir or him knocking out his opponant. He did actually knock down Gomez in the first round, but he got up again. He broke Willie Limond's jaw, so I'd say that's pretty feckin' powerful! I do agree that he needs to keep his gloves up as that's why he keeps getting the odd scorcher landed on him. He hasn't taken many head shots, but when he does get them they are bad ones as he keeps dropping his gloves. But it goes to show his determination as he always bounces straight back up again. But the reason he avoids a lot of punches is because he's just so bloody quick and agile and can get out the way of them.

With 14 knockouts out of 18 fights i think to say he hasnt got the power is a bit of a silly statement

Khan at 21 years old has had good fights last night probably being the best matched fight by far.
The lad has an amazing future ahead of him and is using every bout to learn from , yes he does drop his gloves too much but im sure in time he will learn that it will become his downfall if he doesnt keep them raised( Prince Naseem comes to mind )

Youve only got to look at the past history of fights en.wikipedia.org to see that the boy does indeed have the power and its growing as he gets older and more experienced.

Again for 21 years old he`s doing bloody well.
