DC10 Closed For 12 Months and 300,000 Euro Fine!! :-(
Spanish authorities have ordered Ibiza club DC10 to close for a year and pay a fine of €300,000, for over-crowding and noise pollution.

The hugely popular after-hours venue was hit with the ruling just days before it was due to re-open after being closed for 57 days for drugs problems last year and now faces a hugely uncertain future, according to Ibiza-Voice.com.

“DC 10 can contest the decision, they have one month to do so. The club should then be able to open next weekend till the end of the season,” the Balearic nightlife portal explained.

“As previously mentioned the threat against DC10 is stronger then ever,” Ibiza-voice added, “Enjoy it, as it could be the last days of DC10 as we know it.”

Meanwhile, British house music organization Azuli thumbed their noses at Ibiza’s increasingly harsh club crackdown, issuing a triumphant press release this week boasting about getting away with hosting an unlicensed beach party they staged featuring Radio 1 top dog Pete Tong.

“Azuli’s secret beach party in Ibiza on 6th August was closed down by police before it had a chance to get started,” Azuli’s press release explained.

“However, in the true spirit of the best underground parties, Azuli refused to take the closure lying down. They packed up all the equipment and moved the entire party to a new secret location,” it added.

“The music, chilled Balearic from the legendary Jon Sa Trinxa, through to the latest electronic edged house from David Piccioni and Pete Tong, saw the party gradually move from a laid back, beach affair into a packed out, hands in the air, unforgettable party as the night progressed,” they added.

Azuli also promised to host another illegal party in the near future that will be ‘even more underground’.

If it doesn't re-open I won't be going to Ibiza, its the only club I like there now and if it doesn't it's time to explore new destinations, I think I'm going to do Exit next year rather than bother with this bullshit coz if I booked to go to Ibiza and it was shut I would not be happy!

why would you do that??

This is all bullshit!! How can DC10 get done for noise pollution when they are at the end of the airport runway and absolutely no one lives lives near it? I can understand the overcrowding but then again all the clubs in Ibiza do that... Have the authorities never been to a Cocoon?

Ibiza is slowly becoming the new St Tropez and none of us would ever want to go there!!

Latest is that DC-10 could be closed by the 9th September, and the fine has gone up to €600,000...

Having been there just the day before yesterday it's apparently got a new licence for a pizza shop with 67 customer capacity or something, but it's being used as a club... So expect it closed again sometime soon.

It's an amazing club, and a proper downer that it looks to be going wrong again.

Incidentally - I went to Eden for Dave Pearce on Tuesday night and really enjoyed myself. Didn't expect to but did. Nice Electro room upstairs too.

i fucking did that!

that's ridiculous - i'm sick of people saying stuff like that. what about cocoon, carl cox and all the other amazing one-offs? DC10 DJs play all over the island and the party spirit is everywhere.

everyone is just taking one week at a time. this is basically the same news revisited and it's been going on for years. they are expecting to open again on monday and that's all that really matters right now.....

In all honesty, though I'm sure the party was a blinder, press statements like that from Azuli aren't going to help things.

I know, whilst i worked for Azuli last summer in Ibiza, getting up the backs of the police in Ibiza will not help the cause for places like DC10, but i suppose you have to stay defiant when all people are trying to do is piss on your parade to show a bit of authority. I just hope by the next time i return next summer it's all calmed down a bit because after so many magical memories over the last few years i want more.

The reality is that a democratic government is enforcing laws that have been flouted for decades. They have a mandate from the people of Ibiza, who voted them in and the government who allowed the situation to develop out.

I'd guess that the chances of DC10 being given a license for more than 68 people weren't helped by them not serving the full 60 day ban last year.

I'd rather things didn't get closed down, but we are only visitors, and the right of the people borm and bred there should come first.

Well said, but we are the visitors who bring vast amounts of money into their economy, i think it's more to do with the way that they have conducted themselves to be fair; is there any need for such a huge crack down so quickly as it will only go against them in the long run when tourists are deterred from going back. Look at some threads on here and you'll see that the clubbing community are beginning to see a different side of ibiza which they aren't to happy about.

When looking at the Governments ideas on what is really going on in the island some of their assumptions are just totally wrong, like them saying people are coming and not staying in the hotels anymore opting for 3day drug benders. The whole hotel industry all over the world is suffering and im afraid there is no way they can say that is true.

At the end of the day, i just love Ibiza for what it is, the way of life so i will still be going back, i just hate how its started to become the topic of most people i know's conversations and getting bad press. I haven't done DC10 for the last two years now anyway, much prefer cocoon, don't know what it's like now with the new aircon and what not but that's way way far off from what it started off as. Last time i went i found it to be full of people who just aren't there for the right reasons i feelIs this still the case anyone??
