DC10 Closed For 12 Months and 300,000 Euro Fine!! :-(
Spanish authorities have ordered Ibiza club DC10 to close for a year and pay a fine of €300,000, for over-crowding and noise pollution.

The hugely popular after-hours venue was hit with the ruling just days before it was due to re-open after being closed for 57 days for drugs problems last year and now faces a hugely uncertain future, according to Ibiza-Voice.com.

“DC 10 can contest the decision, they have one month to do so. The club should then be able to open next weekend till the end of the season,” the Balearic nightlife portal explained.

“As previously mentioned the threat against DC10 is stronger then ever,” Ibiza-voice added, “Enjoy it, as it could be the last days of DC10 as we know it.”

Meanwhile, British house music organization Azuli thumbed their noses at Ibiza’s increasingly harsh club crackdown, issuing a triumphant press release this week boasting about getting away with hosting an unlicensed beach party they staged featuring Radio 1 top dog Pete Tong.

“Azuli’s secret beach party in Ibiza on 6th August was closed down by police before it had a chance to get started,” Azuli’s press release explained.

“However, in the true spirit of the best underground parties, Azuli refused to take the closure lying down. They packed up all the equipment and moved the entire party to a new secret location,” it added.

“The music, chilled Balearic from the legendary Jon Sa Trinxa, through to the latest electronic edged house from David Piccioni and Pete Tong, saw the party gradually move from a laid back, beach affair into a packed out, hands in the air, unforgettable party as the night progressed,” they added.

Azuli also promised to host another illegal party in the near future that will be ‘even more underground’.

and this year?

i've been loads and enjoyed it every time. pete tong better than i expected, good guests in back room and great vibe upstairs.

james zabiela smashed it, so did faith.
our room (looking glass) is pretty grown up and even you would definitely be able to tolerate it.

tonight's another good one upstairs - tomas hedberg, ben korbel & punchfunk......

it's nowhere near as bad as you think maggers - much better than last year....

I went there twice two years ago and it wasn't bad at all. Possibly a very very very slightly chavvier crowd than, for example, Space, but then there were a lot of poncy coked up wankers in Space, and I find them far more annoying (if I had to choose).

I mean, I enjoyed them both, but their two negative points were very different.

And isn't DC-10 NOT run by local people either....I have lived in Balearics and I know how they treat "intruders", and in this case, very successful intruders.

Noice police is everywhere else, but not by the superclubs.Funny that! How about closing Space....I am sure people indulge on drugs there as much as at DC-10...maybe more of a cokey affair. Hey ho, the End will be closing in London, what is going on in the club scene???!!! People, get out and spend money!!!!!!!

DC-10 is open until about mid september apparently for sure.

I went to Eden twice this summer and was pleasantly surprised - no nobs to speak of

I went to Eden twice this summer - Judgement Sundays and Tidy tuesday.
Sunday is the highpoint of my holiday - space in the afternoon followed by Judgement sundays, I would struggle to choose between them - I don't have to so thats all good then!

Met some really great people at both (ann savege at tidy was most disappointing DJ of the week, couldnt give a shit about the crowd). I was surprised at how banging JS was in comparison to Tidy - which was more like the best of gatecrasher than a hardhouse night!

Plan to go to Wonderland next year as Pure Pacha was v dissapointing, couldnt get into the music at all.

They get so much shit because they have exceeded the allowances of their licence so extremely, for so long. The new(ish) government are enforcing the laws ignored by the old administration, meaning DC10 has a (legal) capacity of 68 people.

Here's the text from earlier in the thread

Highlight of my holiday without doubt. The first time everyone sat down for the build up for Luciano's set was brilliant.
