Well hello there Mike! Firstly, tell us about yourself and what you do when you‘re not in the DJ booth?
Hi Jen, when I'm not in the booth I practice or spend most of my time with my closest friends, or, of course, work - ho hum!!
When you were younger your musical taste was much different. How has it changed and why?
I was brought up on a staple diet of AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and a whole host of other leading rock bands from the 60's through to the 90's!! So you could say my music tastes have changed, lol! Although, I do prefer the harder edge of dance music as I did with rock, so there are some similarities I guess! I'm not sure why it changed, I think people tend to change with the times, I remember when it changed tho, it was college. I was into heavy rock when i started college and when I was asked to leave, I was into dance music - Ratpack, Mike Pickering, Billy Nasty, early Dreamscape stuff.
Who do you see as your musical influence and why?
Not sure who my biggest musical influence is as my background varies a lot, but I used to think Alex Van Halen was THE best drummer in the world! I took up drumming for a short period of time and I think that is where I got a fantastic sense of rhythm from, enabling me to DJ well today.
When you’re not DJ’ing (or working), you‘re…?
Having fun!
You’ve played at a number of events including b2b with Cally Gage at Global Gathering, Awsum, Contagious, Frantic, V14GRA, Nu-Religion and you’ve recently played in Ibiza! How did you feel and what did clubbers get to see when you were out there?
In Ibiza?! Well to be honest it wasn't a normal gig, lol! I was booked to play hardhouse, or so I thought! I ended up borrowing some tunes from a friend of mine (Jordan Suckley) so I could play the set they expected which was a kinda electro funk trance affair! I'm sure there is a proper name for it, but I hardly ever listen to it and I never play it - in fact I don't currently own any tunes that can be played under 140ish bpm! I was playing at 130ish bpm! It was an experience - which I loved if I'm honest! Everyone seemed to liked the mixin’ so I was happy!
You hold a residency with Contagious Clubwear and with V14GRA, (which is a hard house event in Leeds). What do you enjoy most about playing at Contagious and V14GRA?
To be honest I enjoy playing at both events! They are different, of course, so it would be difficult to pick a favorite, but its the crowd that makes it all worthwhile at both! I tend to play a bit harder at V14GRA than Contagious but I seem to get great reactions from both crowds! The crowds and their reactions are what I enjoy most about playing anywhere, especially Contagious and V14GRA.
May I add – that you gained your residency at V14GRA after just your first gig!
I did indeed!
You’ve also been signed to DiabloTraxx. What can everyone expect from you and what changes will take place now you’re signed to them?
Well they signed me for who I am and what I play, so I don't envisige any changes in my style. Although, you will have noticed they are all producers as well, so that is something I'm keen to break into in the near future!
If you could be anything other than a DJ what would you be?
A millionaire!!
Most enjoyable set and why?
To be honest, I think it may have been my Ibizan gig! Mostly because it was a great challenge and I had no idea about the drops or anything. Why? I learnt a great deal from that gig! Otherwise, I think it was playing b2b with Cally on the Contagious stage at Global Gathering. It was such a pleasure to be able to play with her in front of such an up for it crowd! Plus I think it was possibly the biggest audience for me to date! Amazing!

What about your clubbing days? When and where did they start?
Hmmm . . Well its a little hazy but I guess it was about 8 years or so ago, but dont quote me, lol! Thats when I first fell in love with hardhouse. It was at friends night called Messy in Peterborough. Before then, I was more into trance and the old house music, classic stuff now. Never looked back!
Can we expect anything production wise from you soon?
Well, I've started work on tune with a friend of mine already that needs some tuning, so to speak! Going forward, I have one or two things in the pipeline, but its a bit early to say what happening there, lol!
Where do you hope to be in 5 years time in relation to DJ’ing?
I'd love to be on the Ibizan circuit, hopefully involved in a growing hardhouse movement over there ;o) but I would love to be headlining some major events and playing abroad more often!
Describe your most embarrassing moment in the clubbing scene?
Walking up to a couple at Gatecrasher on NYE at the NEC, five years or so ago (I can't remember now!) and chatting to the girl, convinced it was a friend of mine, only to have her boyfriend step in and convince me that walking away was my best option!! I'm still convinved it was her to this day, oh well, lol!
Haha, unlucky!
What are your top favourite tunes of the moment?
Little Bird - Kye Shand, Paul F and Darren Main
Lashed Track – Glazby Remix
Never Ever – Andy Whitby & Lee Pasch
Stalker (Hoodlums remix) - Jon Bishop (an old tune I know, but I love it!)
Alpha – Jon BW
What Rhymes With Orange – Jordan Suckley & John Saxon
I play those in pretty much most of my sets at the moment, always get a good reaction!
What other gigs do you have lined up for the next few months and what can clubbers expect to see?
Well I'm playing b2b with Neil H at the next V14GRA and I have gigs lined up with Contagious, Diablotraxx and Frantic 11, so it's exciting times right now! I guess clubbers can expect to see me at my gigs!

If you were a porn star, what would your name be?
Lol! I guess I'd go with Bertie Bassett - not sure why tho, it seems like a good name to me, ha ha ha!!
Interesting...!
What wise words did your Mother give you?
Remember, be safe and be seen - wear glow in the dark condoms! (I actually gave my mum that advice once, much to her embarresment, lol!)
I bet she loved you for that!
You’re motto is…
Multum in Parvo
Thank you very much Mike!
And finally… let’s show them all - DJ’s can dance!!
