promoters are people too and they have to eat and pay bills and throwing parties is how they do it

Alot of people can make money off of parties... granted I love making money just as much as the next person, I dont rely on it as a main source of income.

Another thing... dont get it twisted about who is running what. I was nice enough to incorperate someone in on this and it is not nice when that someone is trying to take a majority of the credit.

Work ethic tip of the week:

It makes you look weak if you openly slander names of those who over look your kindness, just just smile and tell them that business is business and dont burn the bridge while you are still standing on it. Just make your point and move on and let them heave their warning.

NEW Even if they're money hungry, can you blame them?
I'm not defending them for wanting to make tons of cash, but they have bills to pay too ya know.
I mean, I understand Sissko's point, so I agree about pushing this one back, but still, promoters are people too and they have to eat and pay bills and throwing parties is how they do it, plus a lot of them work other jobs outside promoting too.

Yes, I can blame them. People who wish to rape and exploit our scene and those who are throwing parties and have no previous experience. You can quote me on this, If it continues there will be no more events. Trust me, I've seen it happen a few times.

I have been going to raves since 97-98... somewhere around there.

Anyhow, I have been involved with the AZ scene for quite sometime now and understand the inner workings and what it take for a successful party and one that could turn annual. Sisskology will be an annual event with a new venue each year. As for what DMS said, I have seen this happen too. Too many raves will kill the scene by burning people out and generally taking up way too many slots on weekends. If the money isnt being made for one event on a big friday event because people are going to a small saturday event, then what do you expect the promoters to do if this continues. THATS RIGHT... absolutely nothing! How would you all feel if Matt and Harmony quit throwing raves because of this BS?

This is the type of shit that effects everyone from promoters right down to the ravers. I would consider myself a vendor of sorts. I bring my services and everyone gets excited for a picture. Thats cool, I dont mind that one bit... Take Rave-opoly for example, great party, great advertisment, but not enough people at all. I was bored by midnight. I am not making any money going to raves like all of the other Pro Spotters in the world who are being paid... If shit keeps going the way its going then I truely believe that the scene will die off and you will be stuck with these little nothing parties that people are just going to complain about in the long run.

After speaking with Boo, he too has noticed what has been going on with the scene and is seriously entertaining the idea of only booking annual events from known promoters/producers. Business ethic is key when you are attempting to do this kinda thing. Alot of you kids out there that are like, "Well I am gonna throw a rave and it is gonna be bomb"... I laugh. The average raver income is what??? 0 - 2500 a month? Now unless they were saving up for 4-5 months and then doing their party with ample advertisment, then good job. But these little BS parties from the kids are killing it all. Another thing that is retarded about that, is the 100 person guestlist. Keep it simple. Dont give all of your "BFF"s guestlist... you might as well throw a free party if you are going to do that. Promoters, Producers, Djs, Vendors, and Staff are the only people that need to be in for free. Do you know how many people come to me saying, "I got VIP right"... "I get in for free right"... "You should let me and my friends in for free"... Sorry, but NO. And the funniest of it all. A cute girl walks up and starts flirting while talking about wanting some VIP tickets... For 1, you are underage, 2 what I am really going to get out of this... 3 I am making my own friends pay, why wouldnt I make you pay?

Its business people... no offense but anyone will tell you they dont want to let shit come through the door without paying until they have at least broke even. Oh which reminds me... if you arent going to bring money to a rave to get in then please stay home and send "Grrr" messages to your friends on Myspace.

A couple possible dates coming up... I dont want to say any due to the rumor mill and we all know how that works. I say and idea and 5 posts later it turns into a sure thing that someone heard directly from me while I was grooming their dog and letting their sister pallet my porpus.
